What changed

Engineers Australia has issued an updated Accredited Programs list, dated 10 September 2026 and replacing the June 2026 edition. The list records which engineering programs — at Professional Engineer, Engineering Technologist, and Engineering Associate level — carry EA accreditation, and therefore recognition under the Washington, Sydney, and Dublin Accords.

The current edition covers around 55 institutions nationally, from major universities to TAFEs and private colleges, across 159 pages detailing each program's accreditation year, status, and next scheduled review.

Notable updates in this edition

  • University of Adelaide and University of South Australia now appear together under the merged Adelaide University.
  • Several institutions carry updated names from prior editions: Federation University (formerly University of Ballarat), TAFE Queensland Brisbane (formerly Southbank Institute of Technology), Melbourne Polytechnic (formerly Northern Melbourne Institute of TAFE), Australian University (formerly Australian College of Kuwait), and Polytechnic West (now South Metropolitan TAFE, ACEPT).
  • A number of institutions — including Central Queensland University, Southern Cross University, TAFE Queensland Brisbane, UNSW Sydney, and UNSW Canberra — have their next accreditation review due in 2026, so their listed status may shift again before the next refresh.

Why it matters for applicants

Graduating from an EA-accredited program generally exempts an applicant from needing a Competency Demonstration Report (CDR) — the qualification is recognised directly. Applicants whose program isn't listed, or is shown as provisional or discontinued, typically still need to go through the CDR pathway.

Because accreditation status is reviewed on a rolling basis per institution rather than fixed indefinitely, it's worth checking the exact university and program name against the current list rather than relying on an earlier edition.
